In the uncertain world that we now live in, keeping our minds and bodies in shape is more important than ever before.
A fighting fit immune system is one of best defenses against germs and bad bacteria that could make us ill or feel poorly. But what is it?
Your Immune System
Think of it as the armed forces of your body – each time a unwanted substance such as germs or viruses try to get in, you immune system is called to the front line to keep you safe and fight it off.
Now of course, it may not be capable to fight off all its battles, that is why we sometimes catch a cold or a flu or possibly even worse. But there is something we can do to help keep it at its best for us.
There is no possible way to physically boost our immune system – it’s impossible. What we can do is our very best to make sure it marches in ready for the battle.
Here are the top 6 activities you can undertake to help strengthen your immune system:
Eat Healthy
Ever hear the saying ‘’You are what you eat’’?
Think of this when shopping for the week or planning your meals for the day.
It’s not realistic to choose the healthy option 100% of the time (If you do then A+) but a good balance of the good and the decedent is a nice mix.
Make sure there is a healthy dose of fruit and vegetables in there and perhaps the doctor will overlook the chocolate sauce waiting to cover them.
Exercise Regularly
Exercise does more than help you tone up and lose weight, it releases the feel-good chemical in your brain and help boost your mood.
A great kick starter for getting moving is a 20-30 minute walk each day, you’ll be happily surprised how good you feel after.
Reduce Stress
It can be hard to measure what one person can find stressful in comparison to another just like it can be difficult to tell or show that same person how to relax and de-stress. Stress plays havoc on our immune system, it reduces your immunity’s effectiveness.
We all know what calms us down best and if it works – go for it.
Sleep Well
A good night’s sleep can do wonders for your mind and body. This of it this way, how good/productive are you going to be on 3 hours sleep each night? The same goes for your immune system. You can experience both long and short terms effects on your mood, decision making and blood sugars with lack of sleep.
Thankfully, Healthline have shared a study where researchers say that getting a good night’s sleep can help strengthen you immune system.
Focus on Good Hygiene
We should always take steps to avoid infection and in today’s COVID-19 worried world – It is more important than ever.
- Wash your hands with soap and water regularly
- Avoid touching your face
- Sneeze/cough into a clean tissue or in the crook of your elbow
- Keep your distance – 2 meters is the recommendation
Keep Hydrated
Not long ago we wrote about the benefits of drinking hot water that is certainly worth a look. Whether it’s hot, cold or has a funny straw coming out of it, keeping yourself hydrated with water is the best way to keep everything working the way it should inside. A well hydrated immune system is a happy immune system.
There are many more ways you can help both you and your immune system feel better and working well, we just wanted to share some of the basics with you.
Something else that could make you feel better is a treat – How about a sleek and stylish Uccello Kettle?
