Global Accessibility Awareness Day

This week we had Global Accessibility Awareness Day. Accessibility is so important, especially now when most of us are confined to our homes due to the Pandemic.

Browsing the internet, catching up on social media, or texting on mobile devices might seem like second nature to some people. Accessibility-related barriers prevent millions of people with disabilities from easily using basic forms of technology and, in some cases, even discourage them from going online.

It is important to focus on digital access and inclusion. This week we help to raise awareness about access to technology for people with impairments and disabilities. It is important to ensure everyone has the tools they need to stay connected.

Designing information in a way that makes it accessible to everyone

Accessible Technology assists 15% of the world’s population, which means it helps one billion people who are impaired or disabled every day. It’s basically designing information in a way that makes everybody able to access it.

It’s important to make technology as accessible as possible for people with impairments and disabilities. As we celebrate Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we must understand that technology is hugely important because it means that disabled and impaired people can work and carry out daily tasks.
